RUNG is an independent design house dedicated to the slow craft of fine art on wearable silk.
Founded on the intersection of painting and fashion, RUNG was created to move art off static walls and onto fluid, living canvasses. "Rung" translates directly to *color*—the primary language of human emotion. We design for individuals who seek meaning in the garments they live in.
Every pattern begins as an exploration of mood, translated through brushstrokes that adapt to the weave of pure silk.
Behind RUNG is a philosophy of slow living and fine art. The artist approaches each silk piece with raw dyes, brushes, and a sketch-free layout mindset. By allowing the fluid medium to interact freely with the fibers, the drawing behaves like a live dialogue.
From stretching the raw silk across wooden frames to signing the finished hem, the artist's hands guide every single milestone of the artwork.
Our craft requires patience. The silk panels are first washed to remove organic impurities and stretched tight on studio frames. We mix custom reactive dyes, applying them layer by layer to build deep visual richness.
Once dried, the silks undergo a 4-hour steam curing process. This permanently fuses the dyes to the protein structure of the fibers. Finally, the silk is hand-washed, dried, and finished with delicate hand-rolled hems.
We choose pure silk because of its organic relationship with pigment. As the wet brush touches the fabric, the capillary action pulls and bleeds the color in waves that cannot be achieved with machine printers. Silk has a natural luster that reflects light dynamically, giving each painting depth and movement.
By prioritizing premium silk variants (Habotai, satin-mix velvet, and organza), our wearable art falls and flows with unmatched grace.
Because we do not use stencils, printing blocks, or projection overlays, it is mathematically impossible to duplicate a RUNG piece. Environmental factors like room temperature, humidity, and the behavior of mineral salts (used in our salt-crystallization effects) ensure that color blooms settle uniquely every time.
When you wrap a RUNG piece around your shoulders, you are the sole curator of that exact aesthetic moment in the world.
